People need room to pull out chairs, walk around a table and reach the yard. Avoid placing posts in the main route from the house.
Account for Roof Overhang

Walk around the mock layout and open nearby doors and gates. Spending twenty minutes on this test can prevent choosing a gazebo that technically fits but makes the yard difficult to use.
