Compare common gazebo bases including concrete slabs, paver patios, decks and prepared ground before planning assembly.
Concrete Slab
Concrete provides a continuous floor and clear anchor locations. It should be level, appropriately sized and sound at the post positions.
Paver Patio
Pavers create a finished outdoor surface but depend on the compacted base below. Settled edges or uneven corners can affect frame alignment.
Wood or Composite Deck
A deck creates an elevated finished floor. The gazebo layout must work with railings, stairs and attachment points within the deck structure.
Prepared Ground or Gravel
Some lightweight structures allow ground installation. Larger kits may need a defined foundation or footings. Follow the model foundation drawing.
Sizing the Base Correctly
Use post-center dimensions and roof overhang information rather than relying only on the advertised gazebo size.
Drainage and Maintenance
Choose a location where water moves away from posts and the home, and where future roof cleaning remains accessible.
How to Compare Two Possible Locations
Mark both footprints with tape or stakes and place your main furniture inside each outline. Walk the routes from the house, grill, pool gate and storage area. Observe the locations after rain and during the sunniest part of the day. The better base is not always the largest one; it is the location that stays level, drains properly and supports how you actually use the yard.
