Interior Window Casing and Finish Trim
Interior casing can be repaired or installed around a suitable window opening when the jamb/frame and wall are stable. Send profile dimensions and photos of the corners and stool/apron if present. Matching existing trim may depend on product availability.
Damaged, Missing or Loose Trim Sections
A cracked or missing section can sometimes be replaced locally; loose casing may need refastening if the substrate remains sound. If surrounding plaster or drywall is damaged, that repair should be noted separately.
Profile Matching and Older NYC Openings
Older buildings can use profiles that are no longer standard. An exact match may require custom fabrication that is not automatically offered. Provide a close-up profile photo with a ruler and a wider view of the complete opening.
Gaps, Caulk and Paint-Ready Transitions
Small joints around casing may be caulked or filled as part of an agreed finish, but painting is not automatically included. Larger gaps can indicate a frame/wall condition that trim alone should not conceal.
Moisture or Rot Around Window Trim
Staining, soft wood or peeling finish can indicate moisture. When decay is the main issue, use Wood Rot Repair. NY-GoodHome does not promise to identify every hidden leak from trim symptoms alone.
Trim vs Window Frame Repair
Frame material damage uses Window Frame Repair, operational problems use General Window Repair, and broader trim uses Interior/Exterior Trim pages. Send photos and symptoms through Contact so the correct component is scoped.
Before Casing or Trim Work
Include approximate linear footage and a close-up profile measurement, plus photos of any staining, soft wood or open joints around the casing. State whether the trim is interior or exterior and whether painting is expected later. If the window itself sticks, leaks or has frame damage, note that so finish trim is not mistaken for the main repair.
