Carpentry & Shelving

Carpentry and Shelving Services in New York

Carpentry covers a wide range of work, but a baseboard repair, a wall-mounted shelf and a built-in bookcase are not the same project. NY-GoodHome separates finish carpentry, shelving, cabinet work, hanging and selected wood repair so each request can be scoped from the actual materials and conditions. This category focuses on practical finish and installation work. Structural framing, custom millwork fabrication, façade work and permit-sensitive construction are not automatically included.

Trim, Molding and Finish Carpentry

Use Baseboard Installation & Repair for lower-wall trim, Crown Molding Installation & Repair for ceiling molding, and Wainscoting Installation & Repair for lower-wall panel systems. Door/window casings, chair rails and miscellaneous finish trim belong under Interior Trim Installation & Repair. Keeping these intents separate prevents the same generic trim text from being repeated everywhere.

Shelving, Bookcases and Built-In Storage

Standard floating or bracketed shelves use Shelving Installation. Wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling or alcove-fitted storage uses Custom Shelving & Bookcase Installation. Freestanding flat-pack bookcases stay under Bookcase Assembly. The distinction is based on how the storage relates to the wall and room, not just whether it has shelves.

Kitchen Cabinets and Cabinet Hardware

Full RTA or prefabricated kitchen cabinet installation belongs under Kitchen Cabinet Installation & Repair. A smaller refresh involving knobs, pulls, hinges or selected drawer/door hardware uses Cabinet Door, Drawer Pull & Hardware Upgrades. Countertops, appliances, plumbing and whole-kitchen remodeling remain separate scopes.

Picture and Artwork Hanging

Picture & Artwork Hanging covers framed art, canvases, mirrors and gallery-wall layouts when item count, size, wall type and placement are known. Heavy specialty objects, TV mounting and shelving have their own pages because the hardware and load conditions are different.

Exterior Carpentry, Trim and Wood Repair

Use Exterior Carpentry as a broad service guide for selected outdoor woodwork, Exterior Trim Installation & Repair when trim is the main issue, and Wood Rot Repair when deterioration is the core problem. Roof, siding, deck and structural work are kept separate.

How to Choose the Right Carpentry Service

Send photos that show the whole element plus close-ups of the damage or mounting area. Include measurements, material/profile information and whether matching an existing finish is important. If the project spans several carpentry types, use Interior Carpentry or Contact NY-GoodHome with a task list rather than forcing everything into one leaf.
