Micro-Mesh, Screen and Other Guard Types
Guard products can use mesh, perforated panels, screens or proprietary covers. Send the exact product or proposed system and gutter profile. A guard designed for one gutter/roof edge may not fit another.
Existing Gutter Condition Before Installation
Guards should not hide loose, leaking or heavily corroded gutters. If the gutter first needs cleaning or repair, use Gutter Cleaning & Repair before treating the guard as the main project.
Roof Edge and Gutter Compatibility
Roofing material, drip edge and gutter lip can affect how a guard installs. The product should be mounted according to its instructions without casually disturbing roofing/flashing. Roofing modifications are outside this service.
Cleaning Before Guard Installation
Existing debris may need to be removed so the guard does not cover a clogged trough. Cleaning method and access should be scoped separately where needed; it is not automatically bundled into every guard install.
Height and Access
Provide building stories, approximate height and full roofline photos. NY-GoodHome does not assume steep roofs, high elevations or specialty access equipment. If ordinary safe access is not available, the project may need a specialist.
Guard Installation vs Gutter Replacement
If gutters are failing throughout, Gutter Installation may be more appropriate than adding guards. Soffit/fascia damage has its own page. Use Contact with gutter profile, guard product, height and condition photos.
Before Guard Installation Is Scheduled
Provide gutter profile/width, guard product, roof-edge photos and building height. State when the gutters were last cleaned and whether they currently leak, sag or overflow. A guard should not be installed over a failing system. If product installation requires altering shingles/flashing or high-roof access, that condition needs separate review.
