Wall-Mounted vs Post-Mounted Mailboxes
Wall-mounted products depend on siding, masonry, wood trim or another façade surface. Post-mounted units depend on the existing post or a new support. Send the exact mailbox and full location photo so the scope is not inferred from the product alone.
Replace Existing Unit vs New Post
Replacing a box on a sound post is different from installing a new post. A rotted, leaning or missing support can require digging, concrete or other site work that must be scoped separately.
Post Condition, Level and Hardware
For repairs, photograph the full post from ground to mailbox and any loose bracket/hardware. Minor hardware replacement can differ from a post that has failed below grade.
Brick, Siding and Other Mounting Surfaces
Mounting to brick, siding or trim requires compatible hardware and care around the exterior envelope. NY-GoodHome does not promise arbitrary drilling into every façade or repair underlying masonry/siding as part of a mailbox job.
Numbers, Flags, Locks and Accessories
House numbers, flags and small accessories can be included when supplied and compatible. Locking parcel systems or electrical/smart mailboxes can create different security/power questions.
When Property or Postal Rules Need Review
The site should not state that a location or height is USPS-approved without project-specific confirmation. Broader substrate repair can connect to Exterior Carpentry or requires scope review masonry pages. Use Contact with mailbox, post and mounting-surface photos.
Before Mailbox Work Is Scheduled
Provide the mailbox dimensions, mounting template and a photo wide enough to show the entrance, post or façade surface. For a post-mounted unit, note whether the existing post will stay or a new support is expected. If brick/concrete drilling or excavation is involved, state that explicitly so the request can be separated from simple replacement hardware.
Parts of this project may require a licensed, structural or specialist provider. The page keeps those boundaries explicit.
