Before a Storm: Secure Loose Outdoor Items
Patio furniture, umbrellas and certain removable accessories can be stored or secured according to product/property conditions. This is practical preparation, not a guarantee against damage.
Gazebos, Furniture, Fences and Exterior Components
Manufacturer guidance can inform whether removable curtains/screens or furniture should be stored. Permanent structures and fences should not be modified casually before a storm.
After a Storm: Document Visible Damage
From a safe location, photograph affected structures, fences, trim and other items. Do not climb roofs or enter unstable areas for photos.
Roof, Siding and Water-Intrusion Boundaries
Roof damage is not currently offered as a standard bookable service under the roof page. Siding/soffit work is limited-scope. Active water entry can involve qualified roofing/building-envelope providers.
Electrical, Structural and Emergency Hazards
Downed wires, leaning structures, gas odors, flooding near electricity or major collapse are not handyman tasks. Customers should use emergency services/utilities or qualified professionals as appropriate.
Repair vs Specialist or Emergency Response
Minor gazebo issues can use Gazebo Repair, fences have their own page, and soffit/fascia/siding has a limited page. Roof Repair remains blocked. Use Contact only for non-emergency confirmed preparation/minor repair.
Before Storm-Related Work Is Screened
State whether the request is before or after a storm and list each affected item separately. From a safe position, provide photos and note active water entry, leaning structures, broken glass, fallen trees or electrical hazards. Any emergency stabilization, roof tarping, utility danger or major structural damage must be routed away from ordinary handyman scope immediately.
This page is kept for topic coverage, but NY-GoodHome does not present the regulated or specialist work as an available service until the required qualifications are established.
