Bookcases, Cube Storage and Display Units
This page covers freestanding shelving furniture, including tall bookcases, low display cases and cube organizers. Send the product link and finished dimensions, especially for tall units that may need to be assembled upright or have limited ceiling clearance in the room.
Shelves, Backs, Doors and Drawer Inserts
Many bookcases include adjustable shelves, backing panels, doors or drawer inserts. Those components should be aligned before the unit is loaded. If the product has glass doors, lighting or unusual hardware, identify those features in the request so the assembly is not described as a basic open-shelf unit.
Leveling and Anti-Tip Hardware
Tall storage furniture may include anti-tip straps or brackets. Those items should be reviewed against the actual wall material and manufacturer instructions. NY-GoodHome does not claim that every anchor is suitable for every wall or that a particular attachment provides a guaranteed load rating.
Apartment Access and Assembly Space
Long side panels and tall units can be awkward in narrow hallways or small rooms. Send access details if the product has to move through stairs or an elevator. The assembly area should allow the unit to be laid down or rotated as required by the manual.
When the Project Is Shelving Installation Instead
For floating or bracketed wall shelves use Shelving Installation. For built-in, wall-to-wall or custom-fit storage use Custom Shelving & Bookcase Installation. Mixed furniture can use Furniture Assembly. Send the product through Contact to confirm the right page.
Before the Unit Is Built
Confirm the finished height and width against the room, especially if the bookcase must stand up after being assembled flat. Note baseboards, ceiling height and any anti-tip hardware included with the product. If several units are meant to line up as one wall of storage, send the full layout so spacing and final order are understood before individual cases are tightened and positioned.
