Assembly & Installation

Window Treatment Installation in New York

Window treatments can be mounted to walls, ceilings or window frames, and New York buildings can present plaster, concrete, brick or other surfaces that change the installation method. NY-GoodHome can review customer-supplied rods, tracks, blinds and shades from the exact products and dimensions. Custom fabrication and hardwired motorized systems are outside ordinary installation unless separately qualified.

Details that affect the scope

Key project details include Curtain Rods and Ceiling Tracks, Blinds, Roller Shades and Roman Shades, Wall, Ceiling and Window-Frame Mounting, and Measurements, Product Fit and Hardware. Call NY-GoodHome to discuss the project details and confirm the next step. Have the product link or model, box count if known, room or site photos, final placement and any stairs, elevators, gates or tight access ready.

Curtain Rods and Ceiling Tracks

Single and double rods, bay-window systems and ceiling tracks each use different brackets and spacing. Send window width, product length and whether the installation is wall or ceiling mounted. Long tracks may also require intermediate supports or multiple sections according to the product instructions.

Blinds, Roller Shades and Roman Shades

Inside-mount and outside-mount blinds/shades need accurate window dimensions and enough mounting surface. Confirm whether products were custom-cut or standard sizes. If the product does not fit the opening, installation cannot correct a measurement or fabrication error.

Wall, Ceiling and Window-Frame Mounting

Drywall, plaster, brick, concrete, wood trim and metal frames can require different fastening approaches. The mounting hardware should be compatible with both the product and the substrate. NY-GoodHome does not promise one anchor solution for every building material.

Measurements, Product Fit and Hardware

Provide the ordered width/length, window count and photos of brackets/hardware. Multiple identical windows can be planned as a batch, but each opening should still be checked for actual fit. Missing brackets or proprietary clips need to be resolved before the installation is treated as complete.

Pre-War Plaster, Concrete and Other NYC Surfaces

Older plaster walls and masonry/concrete surfaces can create different drilling and patching considerations than modern drywall. Property-specific restrictions may also affect drilling. These conditions should be disclosed rather than discovered after a customer expects a simple mounting job.

Motorized Treatment and Electrical Boundaries

Battery or plug-in smart shades can sometimes be installed as products, while hardwired motorized treatments can require licensed electrical work. Window repair/replacement belongs under Doors & Windows, and related artwork mounting uses Picture & Artwork Hanging. Non-hardwired smart setup can reference Smart Home Device Installation. Use Contact with products and mounting surfaces.

Project Details to Confirm

For each window, provide the ordered product width/length, inside- or outside-mount plan and wall/ceiling/frame material. Group identical windows but flag any opening that differs. If shades are motorized, state whether they are battery, plug-in or hardwired. Hardwired motors, new outlets or electrical controls require separate qualified electrical scope.
