Knobs, Pulls and Handle Replacements
A direct replacement is simplest when the new hardware matches the existing hole pattern. Send a close-up of one door and drawer plus the total quantity. If the customer is changing from knobs to pulls or from one pull size to another, new drilling may be required and should be identified before the estimate is treated as final.
New Drilling vs Existing Hole Patterns
For pulls, center-to-center measurement is important. Reusing existing holes can reduce patching, while a new layout requires consistent measuring across all doors and drawers. NY-GoodHome does not promise invisible repair of abandoned holes unless that finishing work is separately scoped.
Hinges, Door Alignment and Drawer Hardware
Selected hinge replacement and adjustment can be reviewed when the cabinet and hardware are compatible. Sagging doors may be a hinge issue, but damaged cabinet boxes or stripped mounting points can require broader repair. Drawer slides and specialty hardware should be identified by model rather than treated as universal.
Measuring Center-to-Center and Layout Consistency
Send hardware specifications or a product link, including the center-to-center dimension for pulls. For a new layout, note whether all doors and drawers should use the same placement or whether different cabinet sizes require separate positions. A consistent plan should be set before drilling begins.
Hardware Upgrades vs Cabinet Repair or Replacement
If doors, drawers or cabinet boxes need repair beyond the hardware itself, use Kitchen Cabinet Installation & Repair. Standalone flat-pack storage cabinets use Cabinet & Storage Cabinet Assembly, while broader kitchen work belongs under Kitchen.
What to Send
Provide total door/drawer count, photos of the current hardware and holes, and the new knob/pull/hinge product. State whether old holes should remain, be reused or need separate finishing. Use Contact for the full hardware list. NY-GoodHome does not claim same-day service, hardware supply or custom cabinet fabrication.
Before the Hardware Upgrade
Count doors and drawers separately, and photograph at least one example of each current hole pattern. If the new hardware changes hole spacing, identify whether old holes can remain, need patching or will be covered by a backplate. For hinge work, include a photo of the hinge cup/plate and cabinet edge so compatibility is not guessed from the exterior alone.
