Garage Storage Goals and Zones
Identify tools, seasonal items, sports equipment and bulky storage needs, then match customer-supplied systems to available wall/floor areas.
Cabinets, Shelving and Slatwall Systems
Provide product links, module dimensions and mounting instructions. Freestanding and wall-mounted units have different support needs.
Customer-Supplied vs Custom Storage
A defined modular product can be installed; custom cabinetry design/fabrication is not assumed. If no system exists yet, clarify whether the customer needs product selection or only installation.
Wall, Floor and Clearance Conditions
Show wall material, baseboards, outlets and floor slope. Garage doors, tracks and openers create moving-clearance zones.
Tools, Seasonal Items and Accessible Storage
Storage layout should keep frequently used items reachable and avoid blocking utilities/egress. This is practical organization, not professional space-design certification.
Cabinet Systems vs Overhead Racks
Ceiling/wall racks use Garage Storage Rack Installation. Flat-pack cabinets may connect to Cabinet & Storage Cabinet Assembly. Use Contact with garage dimensions and product list.
Before Garage Storage Installation Is Scheduled
Provide wall widths/heights, ceiling height, garage-door open position and every cabinet/slatwall/shelf product link. Mark utilities, electrical panels, water heaters and access doors that must remain clear. If the customer expects custom-cut cabinets, built-in workbenches or 3D design, separate that request from modular product installation. For overhead storage, use the dedicated rack page so structural support and vehicle clearance receive specific review.
Planning the Storage Layout
A useful request should separate floor cabinets, wall cabinets, shelves, slatwall and overhead components and show which wall each product belongs on. Measure door tracks, water heaters, panels and utilities so they stay accessible. If a storage product lists a manufacturer load limit or specific stud/joist spacing, include that document. NY-GoodHome does not redesign or certify the structure to exceed those product requirements.
