Interior and Plantation Shutters
Plantation shutters can use full-height panels, café-height sections or multi-panel configurations. Send the exact product and the number of panels per opening. If shutters were custom-measured by another provider, include the order dimensions so fit can be checked against the actual window.
Inside-Mount vs Outside-Mount Fit
Inside-mount systems depend on a suitable window recess and clearance for handles or tilt mechanisms. Outside-mount frames cover the opening differently and may interact with trim. Photos should show the entire window and casing.
Window Measurements and Panel Configuration
Measure width and height at multiple points when possible, especially in older openings that may be out of square. Panel configuration and hinge direction should be known before the frame is installed. NY-GoodHome does not manufacture a new shutter to correct a measurement error.
Wood, Composite and Specialty Shapes
Material and shape can affect weight and mounting. Standard rectangular wood/composite shutters differ from arches or specialty windows. Unusual products should be disclosed before scheduling rather than treated as a normal rectangular opening.
Replacement of Existing Interior Shutters
Replacement may include removing existing shutter frames and preparing the opening for the new system. Damage to trim, plaster or the window itself should be identified separately. The service does not assume refinishing or full window repair.
Interior Shutters vs Exterior or Other Window Treatments
Blinds/shades use Window Treatment Installation, while curtain rods use Curtain Rod Installation. If the window unit itself needs replacement, use Window Installation & Replacement with its qualification caveats. Use Contact for the shutter product and opening photos.
Before Shutter Installation
Provide the ordered shutter dimensions, number of panels and whether the system is inside- or outside-mounted. Photograph handles, trim and sill conditions that could interfere with panel swing. If the request is for exterior storm/security shutters rather than interior plantation shutters, do not use this page—the project requires a different specialist scope.
