Ceramic, Porcelain and Stone Tile
Send the tile type, dimensions and quantity. Large-format tile, mosaics and natural stone can have different substrate and handling requirements. The service should not imply expertise with every specialty stone or slab product.
Substrate Flatness and Tile Layout
Tile needs a suitable substrate. Cracks, movement or severe unevenness can lead to repeat failures. Provide photos of the existing surface and any removed tile area. Major structural or waterproofing corrections are separate.
Cuts, Edges and Transitions
Doorways, walls, floor registers and transitions influence layout. Edge trim or thresholds should be planned before installation so the final floor does not end with improvised details.
Replace Cracked or Loose Tiles
Localized repair needs spare/matching tile and an intact substrate. Hollow or loose adjacent tiles can indicate broader bond failure. NY-GoodHome does not guarantee exact color or grout matching on aged floors.
Grout, Movement and Underlying Damage
Cracked grout can signal movement or simply local joint failure. Grout-only work has a dedicated Grout Repair page. Recurring cracks should be investigated before cosmetic repair.
Floor Tile vs Shower Tile or Backsplash
Shower tile uses Shower Tile Installation & Repair because waterproofing matters; kitchens use Kitchen Backsplash Installation. Use Contact with tile product, area and substrate/damage photos.
Before Tile Work Is Scheduled
Provide tile size/material, total area, layout preference and photos of the substrate or existing floor. For repair, show every loose/cracked tile and confirm whether matching pieces are available. Note thresholds, cabinets and floor-height transitions. If recurring cracks, movement, water intrusion or structural subfloor damage are present, separate those causes before treating the project as ordinary tile replacement.
