Sliding, Hinged and Retractable Screen Doors
Identify whether the screen slides on a patio-door track, swings on hinges or retracts into a cassette. Send full-door photos and measurements. The system type determines whether the project is a frame/mesh repair, hardware adjustment or replacement product installation.
Torn Mesh, Bent Frames and Poor Fit
Torn mesh may be repairable when the frame is sound. Bent or corroded frames can make re-screening impractical. If the door no longer fits the opening, the problem may involve the frame, rollers or the main patio-door assembly rather than only the mesh.
Rollers, Hinges, Latches and Alignment
Sliding screens rely on rollers and track condition, while hinged screens use hinges and latches. Retractable systems have their own mechanisms. NY-GoodHome does not promise proprietary replacement parts for every brand.
Repair Existing Screen vs Replace the Door
A localized mesh or hardware repair can make sense when the frame is stable. Widespread frame damage or missing components may point toward replacement. The decision should follow the actual condition, not a generic replacement recommendation.
Screen Door vs Patio Sliding Door or Window Screen
If the main glass panel/track is the problem, use Patio & Sliding Door Installation & Repair. Window screens use Window Screen Repair & Replacement. General hinged-door work uses General Door Installation & Repair.
What to Send
Provide width/height, photos of the frame and track/hinges, and close-ups of damaged mesh or hardware. State whether you have a replacement screen door already purchased. Use Contact for scope review.
Before Repair or Replacement
Measure the frame width/height and photograph the rollers/hinges, latch and full opening. For sliding screens, show the lower track; for retractable systems, show the cassette and pull bar. If the main patio-door frame or glass panel is damaged, identify that separately so screen work is not used to cover a larger door problem.
